The second-hand marketplace Members Share Displeasure Regarding Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Reaction
Countless users and merchants are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.
They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
